Paul Rama is a doctoral student in the Department of Education at UC Irvine with a specialization in Language, Literacy and Technology. His research interests include the varieties of Computer Mediated Communication in language learning. Online services ranging from instant messaging to video conferencing and video games and the potential of these in learning contexts are other examples of his research interests.
Paul has experience teaching at almost every level of education. Before leaving his native Hawaii, Paul taught at a public high school. While working towards a Master’s Degree, he taught college-level Spanish at two different universities. He added grades K-8 to his resume as a Spanish teacher at a private school in Redondo Beach.
Along with a professorial job, Paul aspires to someday direct his own high-tech language school where he can continue to research new and effective uses of technology in language and literacy education.
Paul loves sports, art, live music, (his own) kids, and video games. His super-secret dream (side) job would be to work on educational role-playing video games.
