Leighann Pennington is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Education at the University of California, Irvine specializing in Learning, Cognition, and Development. She studied Educational Psychology and Gifted Education at the University of Virginia, earning an M.Ed. before teaching middle school for several years, as well as teaching at Johns Hopkins University's Center for Talented Youth (CTY) summer and online programs. She earned a B.A. in English: Creative Writing at Miami University of Ohio.
Leighann is an active member of the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) and the Incoming Chair for the Curriculum Studies network of NAGC. She currently is the Editor of SCOPE: NAGC Curriculum Studies Newsletter. Her research interests include talent development, creative cognition, intelligence and creativity, and motivation and mindset.
