Biography
Matthew D. Pearson is a PhD candidate in English Composition and
Rhetoric at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His dissertation,
which he hopes very much to complete in Spring 2008, focuses on
community of sports fans on an online message board, examining the
range of ways participants attend to language, writing, and reading
concerns as they communicate with each other about their favorite
sports team. As he pursues his degree and finishes the
dissertation, he works at the UC-Irvine Writing Project (UCIWP) in
dual roles as a researcher and Technology Liaison. In addition to
his dissertation, Mr. Pearson is working with UCIWP director, Carol
Booth Olson, on various publications related to their research in
the nearby Santa Ana Unified School District.
