Biography

Leticia Oseguera is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education with a joint appointment in the Department of Chicano/Latino Studies. Dr. Oseguera received her Ph.D. in Higher Education and Organizational Change from UCLA in 2004.


Dr. Oseguera teaches courses on survey methods, issues in K-16 schooling, and college access. Her research focuses on the stratification of American higher education, the civic role of higher education, college transitions, and baccalaureate degree attainment for underrepresented groups. Leticia's work has been published in the Review of Higher Education, the Journal of College Student Retention and the Journal of Hispanic Higher Education.

 

Currently, Leticia is working on a project funded by the Mott Foundation examining promising after-school programs for low-income youth. She has also been awarded a UC ACCORD grant for her work examining social capital differences across different racial/ethnic youth attending Southern California high schools.
