David was born and raised in the Chicagoland area. He attended the University of Illinois, where he received his Bachelor's Degrees in Psychology and Biochemistry. David's interest in education grew when he began tutoring elementary school students and teaching tennis for the local park district while attending college. At the University of Illinois, David was a research assistant for two projects: language acquisition in infants and cognitive development in mathematics. Upon graduation, David moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he obtained a Master's Degree and Specialist Degree in School Psychology at Georgia State University. He has been working as a school psychologist for the last four years in a public school system in Metro Atlanta.
David is entering the doctoral program in education with an emphasis on Language, Literacy, and Technology with concurrent interests in Learning, Cognition, and Development. His research interests include the psychological and metacognitive processes involved in reading comprehension, writing, and second language acquisition. David is also interested in executive functions, assessment, and academic engagement in relation to literacy and language.
