Ernest Johnson joined UC Irvine's doctoral program in Education as a member of the entering class of 2009 with a specialization in Language, Literacy, and Technology (LLT). He is a recipient of the prestigious Eugene Cota-Robles Fellowship, which will support four years of his doctoral studies.
Born in Michigan, Ernest joined the United States Air Force after graduating from high school, and worked as a mechanic on various fighter aircraft.
Subsequent to his time in the military, he attended the University of Hawaii where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Japanese and a Master's Degree in English as a Second Language (ESL).
Ernest has taught at Rikkyo University, one of the most prestigious universities in Japan, and at California State University, Long Beach. His research interests encompass technology and language learning, and technology and education.
Ernest recently presented at the 2008 CATESOL Los Angeles Conference and the 2009 CATESOL Statewide Conference. Both presentations were related to Technology and Education.
