Biography
Jody Guarino is a National Board Certified Teacher with an Early Childhood Generalist Certificate who has a passion for connecting current research to classroom instruction. She holds a Master of Science Degree (M.S.) in Education from California State University at Fullerton and a Bachelor of Arts Degree (B.A.) in Communications and Sociology from the University of Southern California.
She has spent the past thirteen years in education, working with early childhood through university students with an emphasis in elementary education. She has been a classroom teacher in the Capistrano Unified School District, a master teacher, a Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) support provider, and district mentor. Ms. Guarino has been a contributing author to district curriculum in the areas of Word Study, Language Arts and Math.
A member of the United States Department of Education Teacher Training Corps, Ms. Guarino has developed and presented numerous workshops and seminars on effective teaching strategies, differentiation, professional learning communities and parent education. Her presentation "Standards Based Differentiated Math" is featured on the Panhandle Area Educational Consortium website, a site offering Staff Development opportunities to teachers across the country. Since joining the Department in 2005, Ms. Guarino has taught courses in the Multiple Subject Credential Program and supervised student teachers.
