Biography
Irene I. Vega is a native of San Luis, Arizona, a small town on the U.S. – Mexico border. She holds baccalaureate degrees in Political Science and Chicana/o Studies, and a Masters of Education in Higher and Postsecondary Education from Arizona State University (ASU). Ms. Vega’s research interests focus on equity issues in Higher Education, P-16 initiatives, and social class indicators’ effects on educational attainment. She is a Eugene Cota-Robles Fellowship recipient, a Bert Corona Leadership Institute Senior Fellow, and in May of 2007 she was named the Ed Pastor Outstanding Graduate for her academic achievements and extracurricular activities while in graduate school at ASU. Her professional goals include university teaching and working on educational policy at the national level.
