Biography
Jill Endres is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Education at the University of California, Irvine specializing in Language, Literacy and Technology. She is also a board certified laparoscopic surgeon working in the Department of Surgery at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center in Orange as a surgical educator. Dr. Endres' focus as surgical educator is in the use of simulation in surgical residency training.
Dr. Endres received her Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Rochester. She attended medical school at the University of Vermont where she received the class award for excellence in surgery. She completed her surgical residency at the Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan and stayed on to complete a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery. She remained on the east coast for several years where she developed many programs in minimally invasive and robotic surgery as well as educational programs for teaching laparoscopic surgery to practicing surgeons and surgical residents.
Dr. Endres has devoted her career to surgical education and joined the UC Irvine Department of Surgery in 2008. While helping to develop the simulation program at the UCI medical center and the UCI School of Medicine, Dr. Endres' research focus is on developing metrics for assessing improvement in surgeon's operative skills using ex-vivo teaching methods.
