Biography
Dennis L. Evans is the Director of Educational Leadership Development Program and serves as Faculty Graduate Advisor for the Ed.D. programs. He is also the Director of the Administrative Services Credential Program. He is an instructor in the Ed.D. Program and the Administrative Services and the Single Subject credential programs. Prior to his service at UCI, Dr. Evans served as a high school principal in the Newport-Mesa Unified School District. During his seventeen year tenure at Corona del Mar High School, the school was selected as an exemplary secondary school by the United States Department of Education.
Evans, who received his Ed.D. from the University of Southern California in Educational Planning and Administration, has had numerous articles published in professional journals such as Educational Leadership, Educational Administration, the NASSP Bulletin, ACSA Thrust, Issues in Teacher Education, and Education Week. In addition, several of his articles and excerpts from articles have been published in texts such as Taking Sides: Clashing Views on Controversial Educational Issues; Smart Kids, Smart Schools; Humanistic Lay-Off and Dismissal Procedures, and Social Problems: A Critical Thinking Approach. He also serves as a regular reviewer for Educational Leadership.
Dr. Evans has served as an "expert witness" in several law suits involving administrative practices in the public schools. He serves as the project co-director for the Orange County Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) project. Evans is a member of the Board of Institutional Reviewers for the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
