Dorothy L. Flynn

Biography
Dorothy L. Flynn earned her B.A. in Social Ecology from UCI, and her M.A. in Educational Administration from UCR, as well as the California Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential (Life) and Administrative Services Credential. She has taught elementary school in a bilingual setting, and established a bilingual reading clinic in a big ten school district. She has produced videotapes on reading instruction methods, and has written materials for language arts and content area instruction for teachers in grades K-6. She has served on Language Arts and Social Studies textbook adoption committees. As a nationwide consultant and turn-key trainer for a U.S. Department of Education Exemplary Program, she has presented numerous seminars to teachers in Effective Classroom Management, Critical Thinking, and Outcome Based Education. Especially memorable was her work with the teachers in the Southern Illinois coal country, and in the Mission Consolidated District migrant area of Texas. She has also worked intensely with non-profit organizations to further their philanthropic endeavors.
Dorothy joined UCI in 1997, assessing and supporting beginning teachers in the BTSA Program. Currently she is a Lecturer, teaching Curriculum and Methods for Elementary School Social Studies. She is also a Methods Advisor, and supervises and advises teaching candidates student teaching in Grades K-6.
