Biography
I’m a Ph.D. student in Department of Education at the University of California, Irvine. I was trained as a Chinese teacher to both foreigners and native speakers. I have taught Chinese at International Chinese Language Program, National Taiwan University for three years. I also have taught Chinese Teacher Training Program at National Taiwan University, I-SHOU UNIVERSITY in Taiwan, TZU CHI UNIVERSITY in Taiwan, OVERSEAS CHINESE AFFAIRS COMMISSION.
After several years of teaching and working experience, I found myself full of questions: specifically, was there a way that, lacking guidance and correction from a teacher, we could develop effective materials in reading and writing with the aid of technology? I am committed to answering these and other questions through study at UCI. After researching the Language, Literacy, and Technology program, I have come to find that its cross-disciplinary research directly corresponds to my interests in computer-assisted language learning and reading and writing instruction. Indeed, I am particularly interested in a number of researches about automated essay scoring and electronic feedback and technology and writing counducted by Professor Warschauer, whose work directly speaks to the goals we want to achieve and transcend in our team. I firmly believe that Dr. Warschauer’s research demonstrates the future of technology infrastructure and research in foreign language education, and I am eager to study along with him. Finally, only UCI offers the kind of collaborative experience that suits my personal needs and professional goals: I know that, through study at UCI, I will truly come into my own as a student and educator.
