The Department of Education welcomed 141 Single Subject Teacher Credential candidates during fall orientation on August 20 at UC Irvine.

Gathering in the Education Building courtyard, candidates had an opportunity to network with others in their subject area before participating in the planned activities. The morning's events featured three presentations: "Theory into Practice," delivered by Dr. Judi Conroy, Director of Teacher Education and Student Affairs; "Approach to Curriculum" by Academic Consultant Susan Meyers; and "Relationship Building" by Coordinator Pat McCabe.

The morning concluded with a student alumni panel Q&A session featuring Alyssa Balken, Jackie Brown, Tom Kahelin, Neetu Lal, Jeff Liu, and Michael Sarris.

The Single Subject Teacher Credential Program is a full-time, three-quarter program for people seeking careers as secondary teachers in California, typically grades 7 through 12.
