Professor Martinez To Continue Study of Intelligence at Cambridge

Professor Michael Martinez will spend spring quarter on sabbatical at the University of Cambridge in England. The university, located 60 miles north of London, is currently celebrating the 800th year anniversary of its founding.

Professor Martinez will be “attached” to the Faculty of Education through faculty sponsor Professor Christine Howe, a developmental psychologist and education researcher. During the sabbatical, Dr. Martinez will further his study of connections between semiotic theory and human intelligence, with the aim of completing one empirical and one theoretical manuscript. He will also develop a review of recent findings on aspects of intelligence that can be enhanced through direct intervention.

The sabbatical will entail at least two research presentations to the Cambridge faculty group in psychology and neuroscience.
