Multiple Subject Credential Program Coordinator Christina Giguiere was honored as an outstanding alumna during the 2009 UC Irvine Lauds and Laurels Recognition Ceremony and Banquet.
Ms. Giguiere earned her Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) at UC Irvine, where she pursued her interest in research to promote teaching excellence by studying teachers as action researchers and exploring the challenges and passions of outstanding educators. The MAT program, and its research focus, allowed Ms. Giguiere to move beyond the novice phase of planning, implementing, and assessing student learning to become a teacher leader with a clear understanding of student engagement, classroom management, parent communication, and professional development. While a first grade classroom at Turtle Rock Elementary in Irvine, she also earned a Master of Science in Reading and a Reading Specialist Credential, focusing her scholarly efforts on curriculum, literacy, technology, and teacher education.
In July of 2007 Ms. Giguiere returned to UC Irvine as the Department of Education Multiple Subject Program Coordinator. In this position she plays an integral role in the Credential Program as an administrator, instructor, advisor, and mentor to future elementary school educators, and dedicates herself to preparing pre-service teachers for a rewarding career in education.
