Professor George Farkas has been selected to be a Fellow of the American Educational Research Association (AERA).
The AERA Fellows Program was established by the AERA Council in 2007 to honor education researchers with substantial research accomplishments, to convey the Association's commitment to excellence in research, and to emphasize to new scholars the importance of sustained research of excellence in the field.
To commence the program, Council approved grandparenting fellows from other research socieities with comparable programs, and these individuals were invited in 2008 to become AERA Inaugural Fellows. The Class of 2009 Fellows is the first group to be inducted after nomination by peers and selection by the Fellows Program Committee and approval by Council.
To celebrate tne accomplishments of the 2009 Fellows, AERA will host a Fellows Breakfast in San Diego during their Annual Meeting on Tuesday, April 14, 2009. At a special ceremony, the 2009 Fellows will be officially honored and inducted.
