The UC Irvine Center for Educational Partnerships (CFEP) is hosting “A Dialogue with UCI Community Partners in Education,” featuring Dr. Gilbert Conchas, Program Officer for Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and UCI faculty member in the Department of Education.
Education, business and community leaders, and UCI faculty and administrators have been invited to join Dr. Conchas for this invitation-only presentation and dialogue on the new Gates Postsecondary Initiative, to be held February 5 at UC Irvine.
Dr. Conchas will be providing perspective and responding to questions about this major new effort, which expands work beyond high school into postsecondary education to achieve the ambitious goal of “doubling the number of low-income students who earn postsecondary degrees or credentials that let them earn a living wage.”
Intersecting the frontiers of academic preparation, retention support, and workforce development, this new effort signals an evolution in the foundation’s education work and opens new possibilities for partnership among university, community college, and corporate partners.
UCI Center for Educational Partnerships is convening community leaders to open a dialogue about current and future collaborative efforts in our region to increase post secondary success for the underserved students in our community.
The Gates Foundation Postsecondary Initiative provides a critical opportunity to build on current efforts and develop innovative new strategies to achieve our common goals.
