DoE is contributing a Scholarship Basket for Century High School's Annual Academy Awards Silent Auction. The Awards are a yearly fund-raising event in support of Century's TEACH Academy. The Academy, designed as a "school within a school," offers a program that promotes teaching as a career for students who might not have considered attending college. In their academic day classes, Academy students pursue college preparatory course work. In a collaborative cross-age tutoring program with Madison Elementary, the students interact with younger children in a K-6 academic setting and explore their potential to become future teachers.
This year the DOE Scholarship Basket is themed “Vacation in Orange County.” The winner of the basket will be chosen via an opportunity drawing on the evening of June 3rd. Tickets are being sold for approximately one month prior to the opportunity drawing through an actual and on-line "road show" where the baskets are displayed.
