TESOL Convention Brings Together Professional Organizations, Educational Systems, and Individuals Engaged in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages

Assistant Professor Rebecca Black delivered two presentations at the recent TESOL (Teachers of English as a Second Language) Convention in Denver, Colorado. In her featured presentation, Digital Literacies and 21st Century Skills, Dr. Black shared perspectives from her research into Online Culture. Her invited presentation, English Language Learners and Online Writing, included findings from both her research into online culture and her study of adolescent literacy and second language acquisition.

The first TESOL Convention was held in 1964 to bring together in a professional organization teachers and administrators at all educational levels with an interest in teaching English to speakers of other languages (ESOL). TESOL was formally established in 1966.
