It is with a tremendous sense of pride, commitment, and confidence that I recently accepted the position of Superintendent of Schools for Irvine Unified School District. As a teacher and administrator, I have had the privilege of working with Irvine’s incredible community and team of professionals in supporting the success of students. Our principles of leadership are reflected in Irvine Unified’s cultural norms and core values of empowerment, learning, collaboration, trustworthiness, and integrity. I welcome this opportunity to work with the Board of Education and leadership team of IUSD to serve our world-class staff, students, parents, and community.
As a member of IUSD’s Leadership Team, I am proud of our history of excellence. Through effective communication and the modeling of our core values, we have established effective, inclusive, and collaborative relationships with Irvine Unified stakeholders. In collaboration with colleagues, we have guided Irvine Unified through a diverse array of challenges, crises, and opportunities.
It is imperative in an organization for administration to engage stakeholders in collaborative processes and shared decision-making. Communication must be inclusive, transparent, and thorough in order to develop an essential understanding of the issues. The decision-making process must reflect thoughtful consideration of divergent opinions and options, leverage the organization’s collective talent and expertise, and be designed in direct correlation with interests and desired outcomes.
I have unwavering faith in the teachers, parents, students, and educational leaders who will serve to support and sustain our promise to provide the highest quality educational experience we can envision.
