GED 895: Seminar in Educational Research of Technology in Curriculum and Instruction

This course is designed to help students understand the quantitative research paradigm and associated experimental designs. Students read, comprehend and critically evaluate a variety of quantitative studies in order to identify the limitations and delimitations associated with various studies. Students develop a basic understanding of how to set up a database and analyze data using SPSS and perform and interpret correlation analysis, regression, t-test, chi-square and univariate analyses of variance (ANOVA).

EDD 622: Human Dimensions of Instructional Reform and Change

Students examine current issues from the viewpoint of leaders who wish to bring about reform and change. Topics include the meaning of change, dimensions of change, change as a sociopolitical process; sources and purpose of change; coping with change; decision-making; implementation of change; problems of resistance to change; and change as a continuous process.

EDP 709: Collaborative Reforms: Designing and Implementing Responsive Curricula

This course discusses the role of faculty and others in the collaborative development and implementation of responsive curricula and explores systems for curricular redesign and reform in education, and processes for their implementation.

EDP 797: Directed Individual Study

Students are introduced to a variety of newly emerging perspectives and methods to conduct studies in education and consider ways in which choices of methodology are closely linked to broader theoretical and conceptual issues. Course content engages students in reflecting about their research identities-their personal beliefs about what constitutes truth, knowledge, and research and how graduate education is linked to their personal and professional lives. Students receive assistance in the design and execution of a dissertation research project, including selection of problem to be studied, method and theoretical framework and are assisted in gathering, analyzing, displaying and writing their research findings.

GED 820: Reforms of Education Through Integration of Technology in Currriculum and Instruction

The goal of this course is to develop an understanding of past educational reforms and apply what has been learned to the integration of technology in curriculum, pedagogy, and school management. Students read and analyze past reform efforts, develop a conceptual model for critiquing reform efforts, and apply this model to current policies and programs related to the diffusion of technologies in education.
