Students examine doctoral study tools, including computer applications, multimedia presentation technologies, digital libraries and electronic search techniques, graduate study resources on the World Wide Web, bibliographic software, and collaborative online communities and listservs. Instruction provides practical and intellectual expertise about instructional software, video and multimedia technologies, computer literacy education, electronic communication networks, and technologies central to educational leadership.

This course introduces students to epistemological underpinnings of educational research and to a range of research methodologies in education. Students examine quantitative and qualitative studies through reading and analyzing contemporary research and critique selected research studies pertinent to educational practice and policy.

In this graduate seminar entering Ed.D. students learn to employ skills such as conducting literature reviews, evaluating types and styles of writing, and use of the Internet. Students also examine different issues related to educational research and methodologies.
