EDD 626: Transforming Teaching and Schools
Through a multi-disciplinary approach, students explore perspectives
for transforming education. Topics include educational dilemmas; how

EDD 605: Methods of Collection and Analysis of Assessment Data
This course continues the development of students' facility in
quantitative methods as applied to inquiry in educational leadership.
Inquiry includes the process by which educational phenomena are
understood, the specification of models for that understanding, the
assumptions of those models, and the linkage between theories,
concepts, researchable problems, and methods of analysis.

EDP 704: Exploration of Campus Cultures: Impact and Influence
Faculty, administrative, and student cultures will be examined in
terms of values, behavioral norms, impact, and influences. Using
studies of these cultures students will apply research methods for
the study of campus/school cultures. Discussion will address
implications of these findings for PK-12 and higher education
policies and practices.

EDP 797: Directed Individual Study
Under the supervision and direction of a faculty advisor and mentor,
students explore and select a topic for research in US education.
Students will learn to develop thoughtful and clearly written
research questions, investigate current literature related to the
topic under study, and participate in some aspect of research and
develop skills that allow them to work independent of direct
supervision on those specific skills by the end of this experience.

GED 891: Directed Instruction
Upon Completion of this course, students will read, comprehend and
critically evaluate a variety of education research studies; identify
the limitations and delimitations associated with various studies;
generate a research question; justify the need for the research;
identify literature/research gap the study is positioned to address;
justify the significance of the research; connect the research
question to existing literature and existing theory; and determine
the methodology and design for carrying out the research.

EDFN 602: Application of Social and Behavioral Research Methods in Education
The course is designed to give students knowledge and skills in
social and behavioral research methods applied to issues facing urban
school administrators. The focus is on applications for educational
and administrative decision making. The course includes application
of various types of research methods to examine educational ideas
such as teaching, curriculum, and programs. Students will show that
they know major research terms, approaches and designs, and will show
they can apply educational measurement concepts to educational issues
in urban settings, use computer and data analysis, apply principles
of scientific inquiry, interpret and critique published research
reports and carry out a project using techniques for investigating
educational problems.
