- Recent TB test – results are valid for three years and must cover the months of the program
- Certificate of Clearance
Those with a valid California 30-Day Emergency or Substitute Permit submit a photocopy of this certificate. It must be valid during the months of the program. All others submit a certificate of clearance.
- Résumé – Intern applicants only, submit a résumé with relevant work and school-based experience
- Subject Matter Competency – This can be verified in one of two ways:
(1) California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET) score report indicating all required subtests passed in the designated area of study.
(2) Official verification of completion of the appropriate Subject Matter Preparation Program (single subject only).
Spring Start Intern Program - Verification of subject matter competency is required at the time of admission for the spring start program.
MAT and Fall Start Credential Programs - We strongly encourage all candidates to pass the CSET exams prior to the beginning of the program because the course load will not afford the time to study during the program. If you have not passed CSET exams in time for student teaching, you will need to take a one-year leave of absence. (Test Preparation Information)
- Prerequisites – There are no prerequisites to the credential program; however, for the MAT Program, Education 173, Cognition and Learning in Educational Settings is a pre-requisite for Education 203, Advanced Concepts in Learning and Cognition. If you have not yet taken Education 173 or an equivalent course, you will take it in the first five-week summer session and Education 203 in the second five week session. Other courses are available to undergraduates that fulfill program requirements. Talk to a counselor for details.
