Directions and Parking Options for UC Irvine Department of Education
The department mailing address of 2001 Berkeley Pl, Irvine, CA. 92697 is a campus address, not a street address. Online mapping services do not do well with it.
Try using 121 E Peltason Dr, Irvine, CA 92697 with online map and directions services such as MapQuest®. 1 Berkeley, Irvine, CA. 92612 works better for some map sites.
Either address will get you within site of the Berkeley Place building, which is on the southwest corner of Campus Dr. and E Peltason Dr. On the Campus Map(pdf) the Berkeley Place building is number 4 in grid C7. Our parking lot is BP.
Otherwise, we recommend you choose one of the following 4 most common options for arriving here, then click on the associated link to get specific Maps & Directions for your option.
1. Park in the Social Science Parking Structure (SSPS)
SSPS is located approximately 100 meters west of the Department of Education. It may be accessed from Stanford Avenue, Campus Drive or Pereira Drive. If a parking pass has been reserved for you there, the SSPS attendant in te booth at teh Stanford (west) entrance will have your permit. If there is no SSPS attendant, your permit will be with the attendant at the Student Center Parking Structure (PS4) at the corner of Pereira Drive and West Peltason Drive. If a parking permit has not been reserved for you, you can purchase a daily parking permit from an attendant or from a parking dispenser.
A Parking Permit costs $7 per day.
2. Park in a 20-minute or 2-hour metered spot
There are four metered parking spots in the Berkeley Place parking lot. They are available for short-term visits. There are two metered spots on the Campus Dr. (north) side of the BP parking lot. They provide 20-minute parking for $.25. The two metered spots on the Pereira (south) side provide up to two-hours of parking for $.25 per 15 minute segment. Pay special attention to the time restrictions on the meters to determine whether you are in the 20-minute or the two-hour spaces.
3. Park in a designated DOE spot (by advanced reservation only)
If you have been given a reservation for one of the two Department of Education-designated reserved spots, you may find them as follows. When entering the BP parking lot, turn to the right toward the first row of parking spaces. The DOE spaces are the first two at the top of the first row on the side closest to the building. If you already have your yellow reservation paper, leave it on the left side of your dashboard. If you do yet have it, proceed to Room 2001 (second floor in the north wing of building) to get your reservation paper and return to your car to put it on the left side of your dashboard. Note that these two spaces can only be used by visitors who have advanced reservations for them.
4. Drop someone off
Visitors to the Department of Education in Berkeley Place can be dropped off at two convenient locations. One drop-off point is by the parking kiosk on East Peltason Dr., by the stairs to Berkeley Place. The other location is in the BP parking lot itself off Pereira Drive. Turn into the BP parking lot, turn immediately right and drop off as close to the north wing of the building as you can get.
