DOE Welcomes Applicants From Across the Country to UC Irvine
The Department of Education hosted the 2008 Ph.D in Education
recruitment weekend March 14 and 15. Invited applicants traveled from
across the United States to spend a weekend meeting faculty and current
students, becoming acquainted with Irvine, and enjoying a picnic at the
Corona del Mar Beach. Thursday activities included a department welcome
breakfast; introductions of faculty, current Ph.D. students, and guests;
review of the Ph.D. in Education program by Director Mark Warschauer;
participation in a current doctoral class; lunch with faculty; afternoon
meetings with specialization faculty and potential advisors; tour of the
university and university housing; potluck dinner hosted by current
Ph.D. students; and a late night gathering at a local sportsbar. On
Saturday, guests, students, faculty, staff, and administrators gathered
at Corona del Mar Beach to enjoy an oceanside picnic in the California
sunshine.
