Mathematics

Mathematics achievement functions as a gatekeeper for students as they make their way through school towards either college or the work force. All students have the right to a strong mathematics education to give them equal opportunity for success. UCI offers an outstanding single subject credential program for teaching mathematics in grades 7-12.

Mathematics teaching credentials are available at UCI in the following areas:

  • Foundational Level Mathematics (authorizes teaching general mathematics, algebra, geometry, probability and statistics, and consumer mathematics)
  • Mathematics (authorizes teaching of all mathematical coursework)

To help students achieve genuine understanding and a capacity to engage in the mathematical problems embedded in many professions and academic pursuits, UCI Mathematics candidates learn the special dimensions of academic literacy that apply to math.
