Following the example of many other nations, California students need to speak a language other than their native language and learn about other cultures. UCI offers an outstanding single subject credential program to become a teacher of French, Latin*, or Spanish for service in grades 7-12. The student teaching program consists of three quarters. (*subject to availability of student teaching placements)

Language is a portal to culture, and the teachers of languages other than English provide access to language through student centered pedagogy and lively instruction.
