Art teachers support the development of artistic attitudes and abilities for all students. Too often in schools art curricula are pushed aside to make room for competing priorities. In an effective school, art is systematically present throughout the disciplines. With the awareness of the scope and importance of their charge, UCI single subject art credential candidates will become teacher leaders in schools throughout the region.

Art teachers of today play a special role in promoting inter-cultural literacy and understanding as they support both U.S. natives and immigrant students from all parts of the globe in the creation and appreciation of dance, music, theater, and the visual arts.
